2017 sustained a stretch run ofpositive results for the utilityand communications constructionsectors. While the path to afederal infrastructure bill is stilltenuous, investment is occurringat the state level, and investor-ownedutilities and privatecommunication companies continueto invest in their systemswith capital expenditures reachinghistoric levels. Profitabilityamong contractors has improvedand valuations have risen. Thus,stock prices for the utility andcommunications constructionsegment have performed well.
