For the last two years, Dominion Energy has contracted Virginia-based Hazon Solutions to conduct drone inspections on its transmission lines and related infrastructure, using Hazon's comprehensive management software and extensive training for people-on-the-ground operations that embrace a wide range of existing technologies. Dominion was approached by Hazon and a second unnamed unmanned aircraft system service provider in 2013. In 2014, Dominion began concept testing with the two companies and narrowing the scope of the service the utility required. In August 2015, Dominion signed on with Hazon.
