The defense and security market has witnessed a multitude of interagency and service programs aimed at harnessing and exploiting swarming technologies associated with the deployment of multiple unmanned aircraft systems. This particular area of the market appears somewhat saturated with examples including the Air Force Special Operations Command's Tactical Offboard Sensing (TOBS); the U.S. Navy's Low Cost UAV Swarming Technology (LOCUST); and DARPA's Offensive Swarm Enabled Tactics (OFFSET) programs, not to mention additional efforts being undertaken by the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Defense's Strategic Capabilities Office and industry.
