The technology I'm most excited about is: Autonomous, networked drones that fly themselves with the skills of on expert pilot, and take off and land from docks. We can't imagine all the amazing creative, fun, life-saving, efficiency-inducing applications these devices will enable, but the ones we can imagine are already pretty exciting. What if first responders could get situational awareness in seconds for every 911 call? How many lives could we save? What if every piece of infrastructure was automatically digitized with enough frequency to detect small problems before they become big ones? How many disasters could we prevent? What if there was a Hollywood-quality aerial film crew available for the weekend frisbee tournament or family gathering? How many amazing memories could we preserve? I believe these kinds of autonomous drones are going to be the first widely deployed and used mobile robots.
