Q: How and when did you get into designing and flying airplanes? A: I don't remember a world without aviation. It's in my blood: my grandfather flew B-25s in World War Ⅱ and my father was a shop teacher who was (and still is) very active in the aero-modeling community. From the moment I was brought home from the hospital, a model rocket was waiting beside my crib. Most of my formative memories were at the flying field. My father was always building model aircraft or going to flying events, and he encouraged me to design and build with him. My career trajectory crystallized when I won a trip in high school to see a shuttle launch at Cape Canaveral. When I saw those engines turn night into day, I knew that building flying things for a living was in my future.
