By the end of this year more than 600,000 commercial unmanned aircraft systems will take to the skies operated by FAA-certified remote pilots. To meet the unique needs of this new and growing community of professional aviators, AUVSI has established the Remote Pilots Council. As you will read in this issue of Unmanned Systems, the council, which is comprised of AUVSI members throughout the United States, will discuss how to ensure the safe and responsible integration of UAS into the nation's airspace.
