Private pilots flying in U.S. airspace can now get easy-to-understand information about areas where unmanned aircraft are operating. Lockheed Martin, which runs the Federal Aviation Administration's Flight Service system that allows pilots to fly safely and expeditiously through the country's airspace, has added the feature as a step toward the day when unmanned aircraft will be integrated into the National Airspace System. It's one of several changes being made to Flight Service, all with an eye to the increased sharing of information between the manned and unmanned aircraft communities. Three main challenges spurred the effort, according to Lockheed Martin's Mike Glasgow.
