The unmanned underwater vehicle sector will be worth approximately $4 billion by 2020, with utility in the oil and gas market providing an ever increasing market share, according to research published in early 2016. However, the market continues to affected by fluctuating oil prices, and although in line with the advent of unmanned aircraft system technology replacing manned aviation in the industry, companies generally view the deployment of UUVs as a more cost-effective tool when compared to manned operations.
