Nvidia Corp. has been developing computer technologies for 20 years, moving from video games to work stations to phones and tablets. Recently the leading Silicon Valley tech company has been focusing on two increasingly important aspects of the automobile - screens for drivers and passengers, and the goal of autonomous driving. Central to Nvidia's business over the years, and now to its move into the burgeoning world of high-tech applications to the automobile, is the graphics processing unit, or GPU, generally defined as an electronic circuit that accelerates the creation of images for output to a display.
