Queensland, Australia, is using drones in two new projects to monitor coastal erosion and help with disaster management, efforts that could help the Sunshine State establish itself as a leader in the use of unmanned systems technology for government services. In one test, drone photography is competing with two other methods of monitoring erosion along the Sunshine Coast. The goal is to see which method can provide the most cost-effective guidance for efforts to replenish vulnerable beaches.
