Robots will one day be pervasive in our everyday lives, according to speakers at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation 2015, sponsored by IEEE and held May 26-30 in Seattle. They can already work together in a rudimentary imitation of what ants and termites do. They can perform tasks both simple and complex and can assemble things - sometimes even themselves. But it will take innovation to build the next generation of robots and other technologies and those systems should be built to meet human needs, not just for the sake of building them.
