General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, maker of the venerable Predator and Reaper family of military unmanned aircraft, has also been working on testing and validating its Due Regard radar system, which allows the high-flying aircraft to sense and avoid other airplanes. After a series of tests, the Due Regard system has reached technology readiness level seven, the company announced in February after wrapping up four years of development with the flight test of a preproduction system.
