QinetiQ North America has plans to put on a live demonstration of its Unmanned Platform Common Control System within the next year, according to a report by HIS Jane's. The company is focusing on the U.S. Navy's requirements for a common controller that can be used on multiple types of unmanned systems. "As the Navy looks ahead, what they don't want to do in a CIC [Combat Information Center] is put in a console for a Fire Scout and another console for a Predator. They want one common console, one common set of hardware and then have common services running all of the different platforms," said John Sutton, executive vice president and general manager for QinetiQ NA's Mission Solutions unit, in an interview with HIS Jane's.
