The new defense authorization bill, signed into law in January, requires the U.S. Air Force to report to Congress on why unmanned systems operators seem to be advancing more slowly through the ranks than their manned aircraft counterparts. The Air Force Times reports that more UAS pilots are being graduated than manned aircraft pilots, but they lag behind those manned pilots in promotions, school selections and assignments.
