Researchers at Georgia Tech Research Institute are developing a scaled-down gas chromatograph that could be used for early detection of crop diseases while taking up no more space than a credit card. Making such systems much smaller and more mobile would make farmers more efficient, as they could determine quickly whether crops are threatened by disease and take action before it's too late.
