FAA Acting Administrator Michael Huerta, responding to a letter from AUVSI President and CEO Michael Toscano, says privacy concerns are the major reason for the delay in selecting six test sites for unmanned aircraft. "Our target was to have the six test sites named by the end of 2012," Huerta writes. "However, privacy concerns have surfaced as a result of increased UAS usage, and this necessitates an extensive review of the privacy impacts of the test site program."
