A group of students from North Carolina State University raised their hands in unison and cheered. They soon broke off into smaller groups, laughing and patting each other on the back. The team had just finished a flight of its unmanned air vehicle in AUVSI's ninth annual Student Unmanned Air Systems Competition at Webster Field in Patuxent River, Md. The energy among the teammates was palpable. "We are a sports team almost," graduate student Joseph Moster said. "Nine years at the competition and this is probably the best run we've had yet."
