The sheriff's office in Mesa County, Colo., oversees all of a 3,300-square-mile county on the eastern border with Utah. It's mostly rural, unincorporated, and 71 percent of the area is state or federal public land.rnIt's also a trendsetting area when it comes to the use of unmanned aircraft systems for law enforcement. The sheriff's office is one of only a handful of enforcement agencies currently flying UAS.
