More than a decade ago the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) undertook the proactive step of defining regulations for the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Australian airspace. The result, which is captured in Civil Aviation SafetyrnRegulation 1998 (CASR) Part 101 Subpart F, is still viewed today as world-leading in its approach toward the regulation of this unique and growing sector of the Australian aviation industry.
