This year, Rick Cory won Flightglobal and Boeings 2010 Engineering Student of the Year Award for his research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on robots that can fly and perch like a bird. Cory was recognized for his achievements at this year's Farnborough Airshow. Cal Coopmans was team leader for Utah State University at the 2010 Student Unmanned Air System Competition held at Naval Air Station Patuxent River's Webster Field from 16-20 June. Utah State University logged more than 1,000 flying hours before the competition through a research partnership with the Utah Water Lab. The team came in ninth place.
