In recent years, electro-optical sensor payloads on unmanned aircraft have safely provided valuable information about remote activities in dangerous environments. In addition to the standard situational awareness data collected by these systems, low-contrast target detection is also possible. One potentially valuable use for this system is the detection and tracking of marine mammals.
