The X Prize Foundation and NASA have awarded the top prizes in the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander X Prize Challenge, which sought to create a privately funded lunar lander vehicle design.rnMasten Space Systems, led by David Masten, took the top $ 1 million prize, and Armadillo Aerospace, led by id Software ("Doom") founder John Carmack, took the $500,000 second prize. The award ceremony took place at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. on 5 Nov.
