摘要

European researchers are using the basic building blocks of the insect brain to produce robots that can interact with their environment and learn from experience. Its hoped the initiative could eventually lead to robots that can work independently of human control in dynamically changing environments such as war zones or disaster areas. The Spatial-temporal Patterns for Action-oriented perception in Roving robots (SPARK) project, which has brought together a team of leading academics and private companies from across Europe, has already attracted millions of dollars in funding from the European Union as it moves into the second stage of development.
