C&C Technologies is offering the U. S. Navy the opportunity to conduct sea trials of the Norway-developed Hugin 3000, a proven commercial Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) that will also see military service with the Norwegian Navy and others. The U.S. firm believes the Hugin 3000 UUV or a militarized Hugin variant can satisfy USN organic mine reconnaissance requirements. Such sea trials would allow the USN to evaluate this advanced, stealthy UUV technology at low risk and low cost. The Navy would be able to assess the Hugin's potential as a war-fighting tool and to correlate its unique capabilities against appropriate military missions, including mine countermeasures, surveillance, and weapons delivery. As C&C sees it, the USN has an UUV requirement for an organic, long-range, covert, mine hunting and surveillance capability. Other UUV capabilities that may be explored include: 1. The delivery of munitions precisely and covertly to long-range targets involving transits of complex bathymetry and navigation. 2. The ability to act as a remote autonomous underwater sentry to monitor strategic military chokepoints.
