For Alliant Partners' Bentley and Kochman, collaboration is crucial to technology M&A. Alliant Partners was formed in April 1996, through the merger between Bentley Hall & Co. and Von Gehr International. Jim Kochman, one of Alliant's managing partners, was a founder of Von Gehr International. Tom Bentley was a founder of Bentley Hall, where he worked in the leveraged-buyout business. Since the firm was founded, its revenue has grown over 75 percent a year, and the number of transactions has grown from 15 transactions in 1996 to 40 transactions in 2000. The firm has a staff of 24 M&A professionals.
