The first thing one notice about Israel, depending upon what day of the week one arrives, is that religion is taken pretty seriously here. The second thing one notices about working with colleagues in Israel is that everyone seems to have spent time in the military. And, in point of fact, most people have. Mandatory military service is part of life for all Israelis. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that much of Israel's technology, venture capital, and entrepreneurialism has sprung from work originating within the military, such as image processing, medical equipment, manufacturing, optics, semiconductors, electronics, and software.
