Cyclical downturns in civil helicopter demand have been a fixture of the helicopter industry for 70 years, but this is often when innovation occurs to refresh the business. Exhibitors at Heli-Expo 2017 in Dallas, Texas, were upbeat and extolling the latest product and service offerings even though most are working harder to close new deals. Helicopter Association International's (HAI) annual rotary-wing spectacle attracted 17,778 attendees from 83 countries and showcased 62 helicopters as part of 731 business and organization displays.
