Sikorsky Aircraft held a rollout ceremony for its S-97 Raider compound helicopter on October 2, 2014 at its West Palm Beach, Florida. Sikorsky President Mick Maurer noted that "Just four years ago, we announced plans to build the S-97 Raider and teamed with some of the best companies in the industry, understanding the need to ensure aircraft development would not falter as government defense budgets shrank in response to economic pressures/The Raider helicopter program is completely industry funded, with Sikorsky providing 75% of the investment and 53 principal suppliers providing the remaining.The program cost is estimated to be around $200M.
