Aurora Flight Sciences is known mainly as a designer and maker of composite unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and a subcontractor to major aerospace companies. But the company is actively involved in the rotorcraft business. The hiring in October 2012 of Sikorsky Aircraft veteran Mark Cherry'as president and chief operating officer, seems to lend credence to the view that the Manassas,Virginia-based, privately held company will enhance its rotorcraft business beyond the present programs.
