Bell Helicopter announced its new Short Light Single (SLS) at the Paris Air Show (see report on page 24), being designed by Bell engineers in Ft. Worth, Montreal and Bangalore. Bell delivered its last 206B3 Jet Ranger light single in 2010 and decided to reenter the market in early 2012 after the strong initial sales of the Robinson R66. Meanwhile, Enstrom Helicopter announced in June that it plans to begin developing a new two-seat piston helicopter - a smaller version of its 280FX. Enstrom President Jerry Mullins stated:"We hope to capture a large share of the Asian pilot training market, particularly in China where there is growing demand." The company is also considering a new, larger, 5-seat version of its turbine-powered 480B to compete with the R66. Enstrom is owned by Chongqing Helicopter Investment.
