Three decades ago,the UK Royal Navy operated seven helicopter types from ships at sea. Now the little Wasp and three Wessex variants are either in private hands, aviation museums or receiving daily abuse from fire-fighting trainees.The Sea King, once the maestro of British anti-submarine warfare, has seen its skills diverted into assault and combat support, as well as airborne surveillance roles.
