The Army Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama oversees the airworthiness of about 5,000 manned and 7,000 unmanned aircraft. "We've got something around 100-ish configurations we manage from prototype stage up through last flight to the boneyard,"says AED acting director David Cripps.
