Both the military and civil sides of the rotorcraft market are experiencing considerable growth, with most manufacturers seeing increased sales activity and healthy backlogs. Indeed, demand has been so robust that production capacity has become an issue for more than one manufacturer, as they strive to boost output to meet this growing demand. In the military market, production is ramping up of a number of new rotorcraft. These include all-new types as well as improved derivatives of existing models. The all-new military helicopters currently on the market are largely non-U.S. designs, a fact that may increasingly pay dividends for the manufacturers outside of North America. In particular, European manufacturers AgustaWestland and Eurocopter have been busily engaged in spinning out new models and refashioning and revitalizing their military product lines.
