Airbus announced on July 13 that its first pre-serial H160 (PS2) had begun coming together in its facilities at the Marseilles Provence Airport in Marignane, France - the main fuselage was joined with the rear fuselage assembly on July 10. By "pre-serial," Airbus means production helicopters that are being used to develop the production process but are expected to be fully compliant aircraft that will go to the first H160 customers. The company plans a total of ten pre-serial aircraft, which it said "will be assembled progressively, allowing the company to fine-tune its industrial process. As the process gains in maturity, assembly lead-times will decrease to reach the target assembly time of forty days at the full production rate."
