Whenever you visit other places on business or pleasure, don't miss the opportunity to visit the many aviation museums around the world. As most major and well-funded aviation museums in the Western Hemisphere mainly reside in the UK, France and the US, one could easily miss other aviation museums just as important due to the uniqueness of their artifacts. Such opportunity came recently during a visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina. In reality, it was a pre-planned and long-awaited visit to Museo Nacional de Aeronautica (or National Aeronautics Museum) located on the grounds of the Argentinian Air Force Base of Moron. The museum has an expansive collection of aircraft and helicopters, many of them unique artifacts in the history of Latin American aviation. The aircraft are housed in three large hangars oriented north to south and adjacent to the edge of the main runway. The southern-most hangar contains aircraft undergoing restoration or in storage. A valid passport must be shown at the gate for registration and entry, since the museum is inside a military base.
