Aircraft operators and simulator makers have for years been dependent on original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for expensive training solutions data for fixed training devices (FTDs) and motion-based Level D full flight simulators (FFS) to train pilots. Selling aircraft is only part of an OEM revenue stream. Fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft manufacturers make millions of dollars annually selling their aircraft data. Either the aircraft customer buys this data when they acquire the aircraft and distribute it to the simulator vendor, or the simulator vendor buys it directly from the OEM.
