On Sept. 20, at its Vergiate facility outside the historic city of Milan, Leonardo Helicopters celebrated the 1,000th AgustaWestland AW139 14,100-lb (6-metric-ton) helicopter. The event started off with a fly-by of an AW139 and the AW609 tiltrotor. On the flight line, Leonardo displayed a lineup of a dozen AW139s belonging to nearly every marketplace it is in service, apart from the military.
