From January 1,2006, AFTA tariff reduction will be in force bringing down 95 tax rates of electronic and refrigeration products from 15-30 per cent to 0-5 per cent. Customers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh are waiting for the lower prices. In Hanoi, electronic and refrigeration markets are in a recess. Hai Ba Trung street is not animated as previous years. Mr Pham Van Ket, a distributor of Sam Sung Electronics at 39/15 Hai Ba Trung said that by this time last year, his shop could sell 10 TV sets a day instead of 2-3 sets this year. "News on price reduction has affect the purchase, but there is still no plan for the reduction", said Mr Ket.
