The theater director Danny Yung, of Zuni Icosahedron, has created a series of experimental xiqu (Chinese operas) in which the traditional theatrical form is reworked within the framework of avant-garde minimalism. These productions have been turned into the performers' personal psychological journeys back to their collective history.
