Description. The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is designed to optimize warfighting capabilities in the littoral battlespace. It is fast and maneuverable, and can operate freely in shallow waters. The LCS is capable of countering enemy asymmetric littoral threats, such as mines; diesel submarines; and small, fast surface craft.
