The June supplement of the Warships Forecast contains a report on the Russian Project 677 Lada class effort that collapsed in early 2012 due to the failure of the class to meet its design requirements. The faults with Project 677 bear an uncanny resemblance to those that afflicted the Australian Collins class, with the list of components that failed to meet requirements being almost identical. In contrast, the German U-212A design has just been successfully introduced to service. The Indian nuclear-powered attack submarine program has also become reality, with one ex-Russian submarine leased and an Indian-built submarine running trials. Two surface ships reported on in this supplement contrast sharply. The British Type 26 frigate program is suffering from the financial problems that besiege the British Ministry of Defence, while the U.S. Navy's T-AKE program continues to proceed, with these highly satisfactory ships now being built with laudable rapidity. Finally, this supplement features a new report on the French Go wind-class light frigates that won their launch order from Malaysia in late 2011.
