The importance of test conditions (i.e. the salt level in the test solution, and the equilibration time) for predictions of solubility control using equilibrium geochemical modellingrnof pH-dependent batch leaching experiments was investigated.rnFor a number of elements (Al, Ca, Mg, Si, S, Mo, Zn, Cd, and Cu), the changes in test conditions did not have any effect on the prediction of solubility controlling mineral phases, whereas the equilibration time appeared to have a significant effect for Ba and Sr. This indicates that kinetic effects could play an important role and should not be ignored when applying laboratory data to field-scale scenarios. For the elements not affected by changes to the test conditions, the model predictions consequently appear to be robust.
