Flowmeter accuracy is an important part of utility system management. Regular verification is necessary to ensure that these meters remain functional and provide reliable data on which to make billing and treatment decisions. But which verification method should you use? The following seven methods can be used to evaluate flowmeter accuracy: 1. dye dilution testing, 2. tracer dilution testing, 3. drawdown testing, 4. velocity profiling, 5. comparison to a reference meter, 6. laboratory testing, and 7. comparison to water use or flow balancing data.
