摘要

Proper process control at a waste-water treatment plant (WWTP) requires large volumes of reliable data. However, WWTP data, especially data regarding total suspended solids (TSS) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), have an inherent variability of 10% to 30%, and many WWTPs do not have enough data to make meaningful calculations and reduce the inherent variability of the analyses. Many operators make critical calculations based on single data points. This practice can lead to excessive variability in important measures used for process control, such as mean cell residence time (MCRT) and other analyses.
