You don't see a lot of nosewheel ski-planes for the reason that the tailwheel configuration is a little more naturally suited to the ski environment. When I first flew a nose-gear skiplane I didn't much care for the idea, but once I got my technique dialed in I came to appreciate it. With a little time I came to realize that in some situations the nosewheel design even has some advantages.
