The inventor of an emergency seat-belt-cutting device called Cut N Go has turned to the seaplane community to market his product, originally developed for automobiles. Stephen Souders came up with the idea for a permanently installed seatbelt cutter after seeing a news report of the rescue of someone stranded in a flooded car. The Cut N Go device attaches permanently to a seatbelt for quick and easy manual activation to cut the seatbelt. It also has a hard pin that can be used to shatter glass windows and windshields.The defining difference with Cut N Go is that it is permanently installed on the seatbelt, while similar devices must be retrieved when needed. Once it has been installed, the person wearing the seatbelt can quickly cut the seatbelt webbing by first pulling up on a lever to break the safety tab, then sliding the device across the seatbelt webbing to cut it. The webbing will not curl when being cut, Sounders promises. Pulling the lever farther back exposes a hard point on the Cut N Go that can be used to break a window.
