I sold my PA18 on amphib floats recently, and it never occurred to me that whoever bought it wouldn't fly it away and send a truck to pick-up a hangar full of extras. As it turned out, the buyer was from New Zealand and the aircraft was going across the Pacific by boat. I've done a lot of different things with that Cub while I owned it but putting it into a shipping container was not one of them. And no one I talked to had much advice to offer. Fortunately, Paul Munro, the new owner, was used to this method of getting an airplane to his home country, even if he hadn't done it himself.
