The Dornier Seastar twin-turboprop, composite-construction amphibious flying boat appears to be headed for production and customer deliveries. Dornier Seawings GmbH-an affiliate of a newly established joint venture between the Dornier family, the Wuxi Industrial Development Group and the Wuxi Communications Industry Group Co., Ltd. of China-announced earlier this year that Diamond Aircraft Industries in London, Ontario, Canada, will build much of the aircraft's composite structure. Meanwhile, the European Safety Agency is expected to award an amended type certificate in the second quarter of 2018 (the Seastar earned FA A certification a number of years ago), and customer deliveries should begin later in 2018, according to Dornier Seawings.
