Leesburg, Florida, northwest of Orlando is adding a seaplane ramp to its general aviation airport. Leeburg International (KLEE) is in Central Florida's lakes region and is virtually surrounded by large lakes - Lake Harris, Lake Griffin, Lake Eustis, and Lake Dora. Just to the east on the north shore of Lake Dora is Tavares, which calls itself "America's Seaplane City" because of its extensive new downtown waterfront seaplane base. Leesburg International Airport and the Tavares Seaplane Base together intend to be known as "the Southeastern Seaplane Hub," Leesburg airport manager Leo Treggi said.
