Sun 'n Fun 2013 welcomed participants with a repeat of 2012 - dry weather, lots of sunshine, and lots of seaplanes. The Seabirds Splash-in at Fantasy of Flight's Lake Agnes on Thursday of Sun 'n Fun week was a great day for flying, and with at least 95 different seaplanes seen at Lakeland-Linder Field and at the lake, the Sun 'n Fun seaplane count equaled that of 2012. Fantasy of Flight offered special admission rates to its historic aircraft museum for Sun 'n Fun attendees, and provided a large field for visitor parking as well as the use of its lakeside facilities for the event. The large crew of Seabirds volunteers, led by Chairman Bob Highley and Co-Chairs Sharon and Bob Stebbins, kept the events moving smoothly. The Royal Air Force Cadets from London, England, were back, directing aircraft in and out of the grass paddock. Ramp Marshall Randy Strebig and Midfield Marshall Allison Wheaton spent a long day in the hot sun making sure all went well with land-side amphibious seaplane movements.
